Everything you need to know before we meet.
Preparing for your Couples Session
Your session is meant to feel easy, relaxed and natural.
You don't need to know how to pose or worry about what to do with your hands. I'll gently guide you throughout the entire session, while leaving plenty of room for the two of you to simply be together.
We'll create a mix of beautiful portraits, movement, laughter and those quiet little in-between moments that feel like you.
Here are a few simple things to know before your session.
STEP 01

Before you Arrive
Try to arrive a few minutes early so we can get started on time and make the most of our beautiful light.
Before your session, take a quick look for anything you may not want showing in your photographs:
- Phones, keys and wallets in pockets
- Smart watches or hair ties on wrists
- Sunglasses
- Bags or extra belongings
If we're meeting at the beach, shoes can usually stay behind too!
STEP 02

During Your Session
You don't need to come with a list of poses or practice anything beforehand.
I'll guide you when I need something specific, but you won't spend the entire session standing still and smiling at my camera.
We'll walk. We'll laugh. You'll look at each other, talk, cuddle, hold hands and move together.
I may have you twirl, pull each other in close, walk hand-in-hand, give a kiss on the cheek or forehead—or simply stand together and enjoy the moment.
Some prompts may feel a little silly. Go with it!
Often, those are the moments that create the most natural smiles and genuine reactions.
STEP 03

Don't Worry About the Camera
One of the biggest things I hear from couples is:
"We're awkward in front of the camera."
You don't have to know what you're doing—that's my job.
I'll help with where to stand, what to do with your hands and when to look at me. But I also want you to forget about my camera whenever you can.
Look at each other. Talk. Laugh. Pull each other closer.
The more you focus on each other instead of me, the more your photographs will feel natural and connected.
Connection Over Perfection
STEP 04

Make it a Date!
Think of your session as more than just taking photos—make it part of your time together.
Get dressed up, enjoy the beach, laugh a lot, and plan something fun for afterward. Grab dinner, have a drink, take a walk, or simply enjoy being together.
Your session should feel like an experience, not something you have to check off your list.
Come enjoy each other. I'll take care of capturing it.
Sand, Wind & Water Are Welcome
It's the beach!
Hair may move. Dresses may blow. Little feet will get sandy. Someone may even end up with wet clothes.
That's okay.
Rather than fighting the elements, I like to work with them. Movement and a little bit of beautiful beach messiness are part of what makes your photographs feel natural.
A Note About the Weather
Coastal weather can change incredibly quickly, and the forecast isn't always an accurate picture of what we'll actually experience at the beach.
I keep a close eye on the weather leading up to every session and will be in touch if I have any concerns.
Clouds, wind or the possibility of a brief shower don't necessarily mean we need to reschedule. Lightning, severe storms, heavy rain, high winds or unsafe conditions may require us to make a change.
I'll always make the final call with your safety and the quality of your session in mind.
Most Importantly...
have fun and enjoy each other
Come ready to enjoy yourselves.
You don't need perfect weather, perfect hair, perfect poses or perfect smiles.
You don't even need to be "good at pictures."
Just show up as you are, enjoy being together and let me take care of
