Planning Your Session

Great photos don’t happen by accident — they happen when your session reflects you.

Beautiful photos start before the session.

When booking, you’ll receive a short planning questionnaire so I can understand your style, personalities, and what matters most to you.

This helps me guide the session in a way that feels natural — not staged or uncomfortable.

Every session is different, and the goal is simple:

we create images you actually wanted, not just images that happened.

Planning
A collection of joyful beach photos showing people enjoying sunset moments on the sand and by the ocean.

Start With Inspiration

Inside your questionnaire, you’ll have the option to share a Pinterest board or send inspiration screenshots by email or text after submitting.

This doesn’t become a strict shot list — it helps me understand the feeling you’re drawn to.

You might notice you naturally choose:

  • playful & candid
  • calm & connected
  • bright & airy
  • warm & cozy
  • classic portraits
  • personality-driven moments

There’s no right answer — it simply helps me photograph in a way that fits you.

How I Use Your Inspiration

Your answers guide how I approach your session.

They help me know:

  • how posed vs candid you prefer
  • your comfort level in front of the camera
  • important relationships or dynamics
  • details you care about most
  • personality types (especially kids)

Instead of directing every session the same way, I tailor how much guidance I give and how the session flows.

We’ll Plan The Details Together

Your questionnaire also helps finalize the practical pieces:

Location

Beach, live oaks, downtown Charleston, or a meaningful place

Timing

Sunrise vs sunset based on lighting and energy level

Group Dynamics

Kids’ ages, group size, mobility considerations

Outfits

I can review options and help you coordinate

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
